What materials and products can you print on with UV printing?
UV printing works on a wide range of rigid and non-porous surfaces, including acrylic, glass, coated metals, timber, plastics, promotional products, signage and selected electrical components. Because UV ink is cured instantly during printing, it can produce detailed, full-colour graphics directly onto the surface of an item. Not every material behaves the same way, so we may test adhesion or recommend a different printing method depending on the surface, finish and intended use.
Can you print all the way around bottles and tumblers?
Yes. Our rotary UV printing setup allows us to print around cylindrical items such as bottles, tumblers and drinkware, including full-colour designs and 360-degree artwork where the product shape allows. This is a great option for branded drinkware, promotional products, gifts and small commercial runs. The printable area varies depending on the size, shape and taper of the item, so send through the product details or a photo and we can confirm what is possible.
What is the difference between direct UV printing and UV transfer decals?
Direct UV printing applies the ink straight onto the surface of the item, giving a clean, professional finish without a separate transfer layer. UV transfer decals, sometimes called UV DTF transfers, are printed separately and then applied to the finished object. Transfers are useful for items that cannot easily be placed inside the flatbed printer, irregular shapes or products where direct printing is not practical. We can recommend the best method based on the item, artwork and intended use.
How durable is UV printing?
UV printing produces a durable finish that is suitable for many everyday, commercial and promotional applications, but longevity depends on the material, surface preparation, handling and environmental exposure. Printed items should generally be protected from harsh abrasives, strong chemicals and excessive scraping. For products that will be regularly washed, handled outdoors or exposed to demanding conditions, let us know how the item will be used so we can recommend the most suitable printing method and care requirements.
