What is the difference between DTF transfers and heat-transfer vinyl?
DTF, or direct-to-film, transfers are full-colour printed designs that are heat pressed onto garments, making them a great option for detailed artwork, gradients, logos and multi-colour designs. Heat-transfer vinyl, or HTV, is cut from printed and cut from vinyl and is better suited to simpler graphics, names, numbers and peice designs. We use both methods depending on the artwork, garment and intended use, and can recommend the best option for your project.
Can you supply and print the garments, or can I provide my own?
Yes, we can supply garments for printing, including workwear, uniforms and promotional apparel. Customer-supplied garments may also be accepted depending on the fabric, garment construction and printing method required. Some materials and coatings do not respond well to heat pressing, so we may need to inspect or confirm the garment type first. If you’re unsure, send through the garment details or a photo and we can advise before production.
Is there a minimum order for custom apparel or DTF transfers?
We can accommodate both small orders and larger commercial runs, so you don’t necessarily need a large minimum quantity to get started. Pricing will depend on the number of garments or transfers, artwork size, print method and whether each item uses the same design or variable details such as names or numbers. Bulk quantities are generally more cost-effective, so if you’re ordering for a business, club, event or worksite, send through the approximate quantity for an accurate quote.
How should DTF-printed garments be washed and cared for?
For the best durability, wash DTF-printed garments inside out in cold or warm water using a gentle cycle and avoid bleach or harsh chemicals. Air drying is ideal, although low-temperature tumble drying may be suitable depending on the garment. Avoid ironing directly over the printed design and do not dry clean unless the garment and transfer are specifically suitable for it. Correct washing and care will help maintain the colour, flexibility and finish of the print for longer.
